THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES
Our Approaches to Healing
Therapeutic modalities shape how we explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors together. At Elevate, we are trained in and pull from different therapy frameworks, in order to tailor our approach to your specific needs. By integrating different treatment styles, we can address your experiences on every level—intellectually, emotionally, and physically—ensuring your therapy feels as unique and human as you are.
CBT helps you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. By recognizing distorted thinking and learning practical coping skills, you can replace self-defeating beliefs with more balanced perspectives. CBT is highly effective for anxiety, mood disorders, stress, and perfectionism. It empowers you to shift the internal dialogue that shapes how you feel and act, making everyday challenges easier to navigate.
IFS explores the different “parts” within you—the perfectionist, the caretaker, the critic, the protector—and helps you understand their roles and intentions. By developing compassion for these inner parts rather than fighting them, you create harmony within yourself and greater emotional balance. IFS can be deeply healing for trauma, self-esteem, and identity work.
EMDR helps your brain process traumatic memories and distressing experiences so they lose their emotional intensity. Through guided bilateral stimulation, your nervous system reprocesses past events in a way that restores perspective and reduces emotional reactivity. EMDR is especially effective for trauma, PTSD, and intrusive memories, helping you feel more present and less controlled by the past.
EFT helps you identify and understand the emotions beneath your thoughts and behaviors. Rather than suppressing or judging what you feel, this approach teaches you to listen to your emotions as guides toward healing and connection. EFT can be transformative for grief, relationship struggles, and self-esteem—helping you respond to emotions with awareness instead of avoidance.
ERP is a highly effective treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related anxiety conditions. It involves gradually facing feared situations or thoughts while resisting the urge to engage in compulsive behaviors. Over time, ERP helps retrain your brain’s response to uncertainty and fear, reducing anxiety and restoring confidence in your ability to cope.
This approach cultivates awareness of the present moment with kindness toward yourself and your experiences. By learning to notice your thoughts and feelings without judgment, you can break free from cycles of overthinking, self-criticism, or emotional reactivity. Mindfulness-based work supports anxiety reduction, emotional regulation, and resilience.
DBT teaches skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. It’s especially helpful for people who feel emotions intensely or struggle with impulsivity, shame, or self-criticism. DBT combines structure and compassion — helping you build balance between acceptance and change while improving how you respond to yourself and others.
ACT focuses on helping you accept what’s outside your control and take action guided by your values. Through mindfulness and self-compassion, you’ll learn to create space between your thoughts and your identity, allowing you to live with greater authenticity and purpose. ACT is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and life transitions.
Somatic therapy helps release stored tension and trauma held in the body. By tuning into physical sensations and using grounding techniques, you can regulate your nervous system and restore a sense of safety and calm. This approach is especially beneficial for trauma, stress, and chronic pain—allowing healing to occur not just in the mind, but through the body.
At Elevate Psychotherapy, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Each session blends elements from multiple modalities based on your goals, preferences, and progress. This flexible, personalized approach ensures therapy evolves with you—supporting change that feels real and sustainable.
